Tenerife is an island about 200 miles off the coast of West Africa. It is part of a group of islands collective known as the Canary Islands and is, for administrative purposes, part of Spain. Spanish is the main language spoken, although most restaurants and bars in the main tourists areas have someone who speaks English and German.
