Major Search Engines

Ask Jeeves! allows you to search using "natural language", that is you ask a question as you would if you spoke it.   This is obviously easier than using "key words" but the results can sometimes be unpredicatable.  If you don't get the type of sites expected, try asking in a slightly different way!
Type a question and click "Ask!"

GOTO is an excellent search engine if you are looking for accommodation or tours.  It gives priority to "paid for" links so if you are looking for commercial sites (that is people who offer goods and services) then this is a good search engine to choose.  Commercial sites also often have the most professionally presented information so are a good place to search for travel information.

Gadado is a UK based search engine so is particularly good for finding sites which feature content relevant to a UK audience (even if the subject is not in the UK).

Another search engine that focuses on commercial sites first.  That can be a good thing as the sites tend to be very professional and contain a lot of information.
Mamma searches other search engines for relevant content (and lists which search engine found the results).  It is therefore one of the best for getting a wide range of results and avoiding duplicated searches.
